The Hidden Gems is a Social Non-Competitive Event, that will start in Cowan, overnight at Muswellbrook, and finish at Denman.
Both a Regular course (including some gravel, grids and floodways) and a full Tarmac course will be offered.

Give your classic a shake down before the start of winter or just blow the cobwebs away on an autumn Saturday morning. Bring your rally pal or your partner. Throw the kids in the back. If the left seat proves difficult to fill and you just feel like a drive, the instructions are very simple to follow and are easily ‘do-able’ on your own. As an easy last resort, you can just play follow the leader!
Spend the morning driving over 137 km of fabulous roads, soaking up the scenery, which ranges from dramatic river landscapes to coastal national park vistas.
Lunch will be in the Boathouse Hotel at Patonga, just a few kilometres north of Palm Beach but a lot further using our planned route! The run will take about three hours. Meet at the Windsor McDonalds carpark (242 Windsor Rd Vineyard) at 08:45, first car away at 09:00. We have to get away on time, as we’re expected for lunch at mid- day. If you’re based further north and would prefer not to do the run, please join us for lunch but still make sure you let us know you’re coming.
There is no formal entry form or entry fee – everyone just pays for what they want to eat and drink. Well-behaved dogs on leashes are also welcome at the Boathouse.
Please let Alan Walker know if you’re coming asap, so we can let the chefs know how many to expect. Last orders by Monday May 12.
With the great response and feedback from our first Hidden Gems Social Tour of the Upper Hunter area in 2024, we’re running another one in July (more Hidden Gems). A mix of the familiar and new, we’re working on some new routes and again there will be a choice of regular (with some dirt) and full tarmac routes.
We’ll kick off on Saturday morning at ‘Pie in the Sky’ in Cowan, lunch in Paterson and stay in Muswellbrook overnight with dinner at the local Workers club. Sunday morning has more great roads and scenery plus pleasant eateries. We start at the ‘Hunter Belle café’ in Muswellbrook and finish at ~12.30pm at Gundy (Linga Longa Inn) to allow plenty of time to return home or to linger longer in the area to visit local wineries or the War Birds Museum in Scone.
Entry fee is only $35 per car (all food and accommodation are at participants’ expense). Entry forms will be available on the CRC website soon. Entries will be limited to 35 cars. We hope you can join us and suggest booking your accommodation in Muswellbrook as soon as possible.
